After a couple of gins one night, we (Leanne, Caroline, Jen, Claire & Jenny) decided we needed to do some good and raise some money and awareness in 2019... cue the 100km Jurassic Coast Ultra Challenge!
We are walking for CoppaFeel as what these guys stand for and do is brilliant. We have raised money for CoppaFeel in the past as the charity holds a special part in our hearts and boobs!
Caroline - I was diagnosed with Grade 3 breast cancer in October 2016, literally a couple of weeks after my 35th birthday. After finding a lump I got it checked out straight away. I’m one of the lucky ones. They found the cancer relatively early enough for me to receive the treatment that would help me get kick it’s butt! Fast forward to today... I am now Cancer free. I can’t stress enough how early detection is so important. It has become a bit of a personal mission to spread awareness. Good friends of ours also knew Laura Plane (we all live in Plymouth), who I know was a great advocate of CoppaFeel and an inspiration to us.
Leanne, Jen, Claire, Jenny - We have all seen personally (as so many do) what cancer can do to a person's world. We have supported and watched as Caroline and her family's life was completely turned upside down. They have managed to adjust to life with and after cancer. We are walking 100km with our sister/friend in the hope that we can raise money and awareness so cancer can be detected and treated early.
The Walk - It dawned on us pretty quickly that this walk would be no mean feat. We are realistic about the challenge ahead and hope this warrants the donations that you lovely lot will hopefully make.
Considering a walk around our local National Trust park can often be a trek! We know we will need to train hard for this challenge.
We would love you to follow our journey and show your support on our Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/jannersonthejurassic/
CoppaFeel! are the first UK breast cancer charity to create awareness amongst young people, with the aim to install a new healthy habit that could one day save a life. They are on a mission to stamp out late detection of breast cancer and ensure the nation is checking their boobs regularly. They want to educate people on the signs and symptoms of breast cancer, encourage them to get to know what is normal for them and empower young people to have the confidence to see a doctor if they notice anything that isn't right for them.
Thank you for your time.
Love Leanne, Caroline, Jen, Claire and Jenny xxx
