Story
In November last year at just three weeks old, our younger son, Alfie, was taken by ambulance to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin and subsequently airlifted to Edinburgh Children’s Hospital with sepsis and E. coli meningitis. Alfie was incredibly ill, and we are so thankful for the prompt actions of the staff at Dr Grays and the care he received whilst in intensive care in Edinburgh for saving his life. During his time in hospital Alfie had many painful and invasive procedures that resulted in him losing all of his hair due to stress so I have chosen to shave my hair off to raise money for Ronald McDonald House.
Ronald McDonald House Charities UK provides free ‘home away from home’ accommodation to families with children having treatment in hospital. Our Houses offer much more than just a place to stay; they provide family activities, peer support, respite, and many other services. This means that families can be by their child’s bedside in a matter of moments, whilst maintaining a degree of normal life with reduced emotional and financial strain. We help over 6,000 families each year and now, more than ever, we need your support. Thank you.
