Story
Four years ago I rescued 2 very poorly little 8-week-old kittens from a lady. They were malnourished, suffering from cat flu, ringworm, worms, fleas, had been treated with the wrong medicines, and were very weak having started life sharing a hutch you would usually keep a guinea pig in - not 3 kittens and a mother cat.
Dexter was around 200g underweight, had sticky eyes due to an infection, and no fur on his nose. Binx was 150g underweight, didn't understand lapping water from his bowl, and was quickly loosing chunks of fur from his legs and paws. I was horrified and heartbroken in equal measure.
Thankfully due to the care of our amazing vet Lois, her nurse team, and myself we got them back to full health (and craziness) - but it took just over 6 months to do so.
I've always loved animals, all animals! Dex and Binx sparked in me a great desire to work in any way I could to change how animals are treated. I now work for an animal charity that works to ensure animals lives are better right now and in the long term future. I'm going to run the Worcester 10k (my first 10k) to help raise awareness and money for Together for Animals - whose funding supports 5 leading animal welfare charities and the amazing work that each of them do.
Because of the kind support and donations Together for Animals receives, we are able to help change the lives of cats, dogs, donkeys, and horses by:
* Fighting to ensure animals are treated with the respect and kindness they deserve
* Finding happy homes for abandoned or unwanted pets and horses
* Campaigning for animal welfare
* Providing free veterinary care for working animals in the world’s poorest communities
* Researching and treating disease and injury in animals
Every cat, dog, donkey and horse helped is dependent upon donations from people like you who share our love of animals.
Supporting Together for Animals is an easy and effective way of helping a variety of animals in need, making a real difference to their lives, now and in the future. Your donations are shared equally between all five charities. They receive no government funding and are totally dependent on the generosity of people like you.
