Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Our daughter Minnie Mae was diagnosed with Leber's Congenital Amaurosis (LCA) in October last year at just 3 months old. LCA is an inherited eye condition which affects the photographic plate at the back of the eye meaning images don't get sent to the brain properly. We registered Minnie as blind at the end of December.
So.... as a new years resolution we want to raise as much money as possible to fund research into LCA to find a cure for this horrid condition and I (Minnie's mum) am starting with a sponsored 10k in our home town Manchester. My friend Catherine (Minnie's Godmother to be), my sister Sarah and brother James, my friend Leah and her husband Dylan and my brother in law Paul have all signed up to the run with me which I'm over the moon about!! 😁😉😁 UPDATE - my husband Mark has signed up today to also run with us 😁😁😁😁 and so my Mum is now on Frank and Minnie minding duty as well as cheer leading duty!
Having had Minnie, our 2nd child, in July last year I'm at my most unfit (probably ever) so this is a great challenge to take on. I've started the training and am enjoying getting fitter as a side benefit although these cold cold nights are not being kind bbbrrrrr!
I contacted Fight for Sight having read up on the organisation online and they were very pleased to have us on board. We are now talking about setting up a specific 'Family Fund' which will ring fence all money we raise so that it goes specifically to researching LCA in Minnie's name which we are very excited about!
Please please dig deep and support this incredible cause to help Minnie and all other sufferers of LCA. We really do appreciate any support you can offer 🙏 A huge thank you for reading and in advance for any sponsorship 🙏💖
