Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I will let you know about the charity event that I am undertaking this summer on the 25th June. I am cycling the 104 mile Cyclone bike race which also climbs over 8000 feet. This is a local event setting off from the centre of Newcastle and climbs into the Pennines. Have a look at photo 2 and this will show the route to be taken, also some photos on facebook from the 64 mile bike route I have already done!
I have to admit that this will be a challenge for me as I have only ever done a 60 mile bike race previous to this but I am determined to complete this and hopefully in a good time of 7 -7.30 hours (weather depending!) and am training hard!
This is in aid of the breast reconstruction charity at the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle and all money collected will go towards the breast cancer unit and this charity. I am one of the plastic surgeons at the RVI specializing in breast reconstruction and find that we need to raise some more funds for the education and advancement of the service we offer. Last year we released an educational DVD for patients who are considering breast reconstruction. A local filmmaker produced this highly informative DVD and we wish to further enhance this service to patients. We have recently set up a website for information about the breast cancer unit and the reconstruction service. We need to develop this further and require more funding. I will aim to raise enough funds for this project to progress so that we have this up and running by the end of summer with the funds raised from this charity bike race.
