Story
I am raising money for Velindre Cancer Hospital to support all the wonderful and amazing work they do. I will be 80 next January and I wanted to do something Challenging and something I have never done before. I have decided to do a sky dive on 23rd June. I have already had my pre-assessment at the skydive centre in Swansea who have said I am fit and healthy enough to make the jump. My daughter’s niece Lucy McMahon is also jumping with me.
My story
After losing my husband to cancer 20 years ago, I started working for Velindre as a volunteer and continue to work there every Monday. Over the years I have seen first hand the amazing work that they do. I have met and chatted to many patients and their families as part of my role is to meet and greet people as they enter the doors for the first time or whilst they are having treatment, often taking them along to the treatment room.I have heard many amazing stories and some very difficult ones but always hear praise for the hospital. Through my 79 years, I have lost many loved ones to this disease but have also seen many people fight it and beat it.
Please help me support this wonderful charity to help them to save others from this cruel disease. I lost my own mother to breast cancer when I was just 7 years old but believe she would have survived if we had places like Velindre in those days.
Thanks to everyone for their support.
