Event: Bupa Great South Run 2011, on 30 October 2011
We are radically advancing research to achieve a life free from epilepsy

Story

Dublin, April 2002.

A water canon throws a jet of water into the air and it settles onto the green hockey pitch.

A rainbow of shirts wait around the edge of the pitch, ready for battle to commence.

The sun is already hot, the sky is blue, the beers are cold.

The calm, before the storm ....

"WE ARE THE SUNDERLAND UNI, THE PRIDE OF THE NORTH. WE HATE NEWCASTLE AND TEESIDE OF COURSE. WE ONLY DRINK WHISKEY AND BOTTLES OF BROWN. THE SUNDERLAND GIRLS ARE IN TOWN ... LA, LA, LA ...."

Lucy Jane Brooks had arrived and was ready to PARTY!!!

I believe once in everyones life you meet someone who will change your outlook on life, change the way you do things and see things. Someone who is so unique they can never be matched.

For me this was Lucy. Tragically she passed away in February 2011 and I am running the Great South Run (I can hear her laughing) to raise money for Epilepsy Research UK.
