I'm not sure whether I was told it was all downhill or whether it was that I should do it before I go downhill! Anyway, this will be a way to support all our men folk and their families who may need the help of Prostate Cancer UK, monies will also go to St Margaret's Hospice and Yeovil Town Community Sports Trust.
There will be 65 of us cycling from the Riverside Stadium at Middlesbrough to Huish Park in Yeovil, a total of 334 miles. Yeovil's last away game to their last home game, hopefully with us all arriving back at the stadium before kick-off.
We start cycling on the 29th April 2014 and get back to Yeovil on Saturday 3rd May. We have been asked to raise £1 for every mile, so please help me achieve this goal.
Training in Somerset is a bit tricky at the moment - my husband David suggested I get myself a pedalo - not such a daft idea really!! It's still cycling, but I might need a mask and snorkle as well....
More recently my inspiration to get out there and brave the high winds, rain and hail, has been watching Davina McCall's challenge. Each time I'm out there and the weather is bad I just think of her!!
And a bit of info on the charities which you will be supporting if you donate to my page! The largest part of monies raised will go to Prostate Cancer UK, then St Margaret's Hospice, with a much smaller sum going to YTCST.
The Community Sports Trust delivers a wide range of sports related initiatives across Somerset and Dorset, using the power of football and sport to engage individuals and to have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of young people each year.
St Margaret’s Hospice in Yeovil provides specialist palliative care, advice, support and respite to patients and their families living in Somerset and parts of neighbouring counties.
Their care is available for those who have a terminal or life-limiting illness such as cancer, motor neurone disease and chronic lung disease.
Prostate Cancer UK – formerly The Prostate Cancer Charity – supports male sufferers, funds research and raises awareness about the disease.
