Story
As a child I remember we had an abundance of Hedgehogs at the bottom of our garden. I loved them and used to bring them into the kitchen, which by the way got me into trouble! Now Hedgehogs are much rarer to see and are under threat. Britain's most loved mammal has officially been listed as vulnerable, according to the latest IUCN report, and we are now facing the very real chance of losing this iconic creature within our lifetime.
We need to do everything possible to care and support our British Wildlife. Hedgehogs face many challenges and climate change in recent years has also affected wildlife, and we have seen a surge in hedgehogs birthing a second litter of young hoglets late in to the year - many too small to be able to gain enough weight and survive winter hibernation. These Hedgehogs will need to be cared for and overwintered until release back to the wild in spring.
I really want to make a difference and through volunteering as a Hedgehog Carer for Wildlife Aid has made the 'every life is precious' mean so very much more. These little Hedgehogs have truly touched my heart, its been an emotional journey and every single one of them deserves a chance, an opportunity to be released back to the wild.
This winter your help is needed to feed the many hedgehogs that have already arrived at Wildlife Aid, along with the countless others yet to be admitted.
So, this year for my Birthday I am asking 'will you help us to care for Hedgehogs that need us?' For every £5 kindly donated your name will be put into a 'raffle' with a chance to win a very beautiful signed and numbered limited edition 'Benny Boy' Hedgehog giclee print (30x47cm), kindly donated by the very talented Wildlife Artist Richard Symonds.
The draw will take place on Thursday 16th December, so this means you could have this gorgeous piece of artwork by my birthday (and by christmas!) and be helping by contributing towards the essential overwintering of Hedgehogs and helping us increase their numbers in the wild.
Will you help us to care for Hedgehogs that need us?
Much Love
