Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. We have joined together to raise money for, and awareness of, Alzheimer's Society. We will be taking part in "One Giant Leap", jumping from 10,000 feet and free-falling at over 120 mph in tandem skydives. Eek!!!!
Carol says: My interest in dementia and involvement with Alzheimers Society began when my mother was diagnosed with dementia. It was so sad to see the 'Mum' and 'Grandma' we had all known and loved as a fun, capable, organised woman become forgetful, lose previous skills and become so frustrated with her progressing illness. She died in June 2011 and later that year Graham, my husband, and I joined an Alzheimers Society Fundraising Trek on the Great Wall of China. Having looked after my father for some years after my mother's death I now feel it is time to take up another challenge and thus 'One Giant Leap'!
Caroline says: I have joined with Carol to take 'One Giant Leap' this August in memory of a much loved uncle. His frustration as he changed from someone who had been at the top of his profession, with a host of vastly varied interests and huge delight in surrounding himself with family and friends, was heart-breaking and I would love to be able to hep assist research into this awful disease, which so affects the whole family.
