Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Three years ago my very best friend Heather was bright and well and enjoying life. Then suddenly she became ill. Just three months later she died. Thats how quickly Pancreatic Cancer can, and often does, work.
One of our ambitions had been to walk part of the Camino to Santiago de Compostela. After her death I resolved to do the walk in her memory and to make it count in helping fight the battle with this particularly nasty illness.
On 30th May Heather's grandaughter Hannah and I set off for eight days in Northern Spain to walk the last 110km of the Camino into Compostela. My target is to raise £1000 for Pancreatic Cancer UK and Hannah will be raising money for the Bone Cancer Charity as her brother Nick died from this in 2009.
Not only are we remembering Heather and Nick but also John and Ella Taylor who have also died from Pancreatic Cancer in the last three years.
97% of people diagnosed with this cancer will die within 5 years. This figure hasn't changed in 30 years. Recent research has begun to make headway with possible treatments but much much more needs to be done so please give generously.
