Story
Countdown is on!! 5 days to go!!!!
My Challenge for 2014 is to ride 50 miles around Nottinghamshire on the 22nd June in aid of Arthritis Research UK. Arthritis Research UK are supporting their staff in 'health promotion' by providing a cycle to work scheme and this is my opportunity to repay them for their kindness in keeping me healthy as I approach my 46th birthday!! My partner Chris Orme who is a keen mountain biker encouraged me to take up this challenge and is also riding for the charity. As the saying goes 'Prevention is always better than the cure!!!'
Arthritis can develop in a number of ways and not always in older people. Juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) is the most common form of arthritis affecting young people. It can begin at any age, but it often starts before the age of 5. - http://www.arthritisresearchuk.org/arthritis-information/young-people/when-your-child-has-arthritis/what-is-jia.aspx
Exercise is vital to keep our bodies and musculoskeletal systems in the best possible shape. But physical activity, while essential for good health, can sometimes lead to injuries. And injury to a joint is one of the main risk factors for osteoarthritis – along with ageing and obesity. So therefore Premier League striker Rickie Lambert is also backing the new £3m Arthritis Research UK £3m Centre for Sport, Exercise and Osteoarthritis - http://
