Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My next door neighbour 4 year old Evie's life has been massively improved from the support provided by Kisses 4 Kids. When the training gets tough all I need is a cheeky smile from Evie and I remember why I am doing this.. Please read Evie's story below.
Kisses4Kids charity was registered in 2008 by Stacey Johnson, to create happy memories for families of children with long term or life limiting conditions in Essex and Hertfirdshire.
They provide special treats to children effected and their families and can be in the form of a day trip to a zoo or an amusement park, a trip to the theatre or a week away at their static caravan in Norfolk. Some families choose to take their treat in the form of a specialised event like a birthday party, or as an ipad or laptop to keep in touch with family and friends while they're undergoing long term hospital visits.
Kisses4Kids also work closely with local hospitals, and make special visits with gifts and toys at Easter and Christmas. In addition to this, they provide much needed equipment
Evie was delivered 8 weeks early in July 2010. She had a small PDA and was just 3lb 1oz. She had trisomy 21 and was a tiny bundle of perfection. Evie required no resuscitation at birth, and was allowed home after 5.5 weeks to a very excited sister, mum and dad.
Unfortunately, in the October she developed bronchiolitis and was unable to fight given her size and was rushed to a&e where she was taken straight to resus and put on cpap. After a week of care she was again allowed home. Sadly, this was just the beginning of a very long, arduous road. Over that winter Evie suffered many setbacks, cardiac failure, had lots of various very intrusive procedures and stayed on dolphin ward at Harlow hospital for 6 months. She was finally transferred to the Brompton hospital where she was diagnosed with a chronic lung condition, pulmonary vein stenosis, reflux and an additional hole in the heart.
Since then, despite two lots of heart surgery, and various other surgical procedures, and being on long term oxygen therapy she has turned everyone's life around. She is a loving sister, cheeky friend and inspirational daughter. She is her Mum & Dads sunshine and make they very proud every day.
