Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
On June 2nd I will be swimming 1.2miles, cycling 56miles and running 13.1miles in the Outlaw Half Triathlon in Nottingham in memory of a really amazing person and friend.
I met Chris the first week I moved to Derby in 2006 and he became part of my 'Derby family'. He was a true inspiration in how he lived his life and always pushed himself to ever greater challenges, but he was also a selfless and caring friend who would always encourage others in their own goals. Chris completed the Ironman UK triathlon last July and died in a tragic accident in the Lake District less than 3 months later.
So to honour Chris and to raise money for the Great North Air Ambulance Service, who did all they could to help him, I'll be taking on the biggest challenge of my life along with over 30 of Chris' friends. When I signed up for this in November, I had never sat on a road bike, hadn't cycled for more than an hour without a pub-stop, couldn't swim a single length of front crawl and was quite frankly terrified of putting my head underwater! So I hope you'll agree this is a significant challenge and a worthy cause, and can spare a few pennies to encourage me through the last few weeks of training and the event itself.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
All the 'Team Bygate' pages are linked so it doesn't matter if you donate on my page or one of the others, the donations all go to the same place and we all appreciate your support!
Thanks,
Carol
