Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
It is heartbreaking that Lewis is no longer with us for his 18th birthday. In his memory our family are taking part in a sponsored litter pick in the areas Lewis used to love walking with us. We are also walking from the Lock Keeper in Worksop to Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice in North Anston.
The litter pick will take place on Mon 23rd August and the walk on the 26th August.
Lewis died on December 17th in Bluebell Wood Hospice. He had an aggressive brain tumour called Medulloblastoma.
Lewis was the light of our lives and so, so loved by us all. He was a lover of the great outdoors, walking, camping, bird watching, playing and watching football with his Dad Shaun and loved the cinema and watching films with his mum Amelia and sisters Imogen and Holly. Lewis spent a lot of time with Carol and Geoff ( Grandparents).
Due to his love of nature we decided upon a litter pick and walk to Bluebell.
Lewis became ill in September 2016 and endured a year of aggressive treatment only to find that the tumour had spread to his spine. Palliative care was the only option left.
Obviously, this scenario is every parents nightmare and devastation can easily overcome but as a family you have to be there and our overwhelming love for Lewis and each other carried us through.
Being referred to Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice was a god send to us. It seems bizarre to say that Lewis settled in there straight away - but he did. That's because Bluebell puts an emphasis on making memories and living for the child and family. The staff wrap their arms around the whole family from the start and support and love surrounds the whole family through the trauma of losing a child and beyond.
Lewis loved his care team. So did we. Thank goodness Bluebell was there for us all.
