Story
Hi everyone, I'm taking part in Walk Ten Kent at Sissinghurst Castle to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Walk Ten Kent is a 10k walk/run. That is 6.2 miles! I've never walked 2 miles in my life let alone 6.2, plus the health problems I have that cause extreme pain in my legs so this is gonna be a huge challenge for me but well worth it!
I'm not sure whether to ask for donations of money for Marie Curie or donations of plasters and oxygen for me!.....how about both! Just hoping the red cross will be on hand! :-)
Marie Curie Cancer Care is a fantastic cause that provides free care for people with terminal cancer who wish to spend their last days at home instead of in hospital. Research has shown that 64% of people would want to be at home at the end, with their family and in their own surroundings if they had a terminal illness......I can't imagine being told that I couldn't do that due to lack of funding.
It costs £20 to provide 1 hour of Marie Curie nursing care in a patients home.
£70 buys 2 nurses uniforms.
£180 pays for a full 9 hour shift.
So please, please consider making a donation even if its 50p, Jake and Cian are donating their £1.50 pocket money so you see every penny really does count.......and I'm not going through all this pain for nothing!
The walk/run starts at 6.30pm and ends at 10pm so I've got a feeling that me and my friend Victoria are gonna get forgotton about, cross the line at 1.00am and find ourselves deserted and locked in, so keep your mobile phone's switched on, a pair of wire cutters at the ready and your cars warmed up ready to come and collect us!
Will keep you updated and thankyou loads and loads in advance for your donations, it really is appreciated.
