Story
Signing up for a 50 km walk in the Peak District sounded a bit less crazy than running the marathon and a challenge slightly more doable for me to take on with a team from across different parts of Johnson Matthey. Please come back to check my stories and updates and if you would like to support with a donation, or by joining any of my walks in preparation for the big event, that will really help me get to the finish line! Johnson Matthey will match the donations up to £1,000.
My charity of choice is Great Ormond Street Hospital Children's Charity because, of all the great challenges children may face growing up in this world, fighting serious illnesses requires the most support.
I've been told babies can fight anything, and that was largely true in my experience, until I held my 12 months' old baby helplessly in my arms, convulsing and their lips turning blue while waiting for the ambulance. There were no warning signs, it all started straight from a peaceful nap. Despite my thoughts at that moment she is now perfectly well and healthy. The response, help and support of the medical professionals was incredible. In this case, it was one of the conditions more known and researched. But this is not everyone's story, and there are many other more serious conditions that GOSH deal with every day.
In addition to updates on progress, planned walks and other events I will share a few discoveries from history that inspire me and the incredible stories behind them.
