Story

Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page! On 15 September 2013 I'll be running the Great North Run to raise money for Anthony Nolan - a pioneering charity that saves the lives of people with blood cancer who need a bone marrow transplant.

13 miles is a very long way to run and £400 is a lot to raise so I'd really appreciate your support! There are two ways you can help:

1) Sponsor me As an added incentive I will let you choose my playlist! Whether you want to inspire me or punish me, just write your song choice in the comments when you donate.

2) Join the Anthony Nolan register Click here to join online or watch this video to find out more about what happens if you're a match.

Here's why I'm running for Anthony Nolan...

There are currently 1,400 adults and children in the UK waiting for a life saving transplant but only half of them will find a match from the 400,000 registered donors.

I first found out about Anthony Nolan whilst writing my dissertation and was so impressed with how efficient and successful they were in achieving their goals - such as recruiting a whopping 10,000 new donors in less than a year - that I vowed to do whatever I could to help, starting with joining the donor register myself.

Then, by horrible coincidence, my friend Freddy was diagnosed with leukaemia and the importance of Anthony Nolan's work really hit home. A couple of months ago Freddy received a bone marrow transplant from his brother (only 1 in 3 people find a match within their family, the rest must rely on the donor register) He is still undergoing treatment and the process hasn't been pleasant but so far it's working. Anthony Nolan played a huge part in making this treatment available and the more people they can recruit to the donor register the better chance they have of helping more people survive blood cancer.

Thanks for taking the time to read this page and a HUUUUGE THANK YOU if you've decided to sponsor me!
