Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running the Baker Hughes 10k on the 18th May in memory of my beautiful friend, Michelle Ramsay-Fraser and to raise money for St Thomas Lupus Trust.
Michelle suffered from Lupus after being diagnosed at the age of 21. Lupus is a disease of the immune system with the commonest sufferers being young women between the ages of 18 and 45 years. Michelles Lupus was very rare in that it was very agressive and she was taken from us on the 13th September 2013.
Those that knew Michelle personally are aware of how brave she was, and how she never wanted the Lupus to affect her life or stop her from doing things. She always had a smile and a laugh no matter how she was feeling. Its her drive to not let things get in her way that I admire so much.
The St. Thomas Lupus Trust is a registered charity that works to provide funding into the research of Lupus. It provides 100% of the cost of a dedicated Lupus Unit and a Lupus Research Laboratory. The charity receives no funding from either the Government or the NHS and relies solely on donations. As well as funding research, the St. Thomas Lupus Trust provides the world’s only online Lupus Nurse where sufferers can get information about specific Lupus questions they may have.
I think of Michelle every day and miss her so much. I'm not the most eloquent with words, or great at expressing my emotions so this is my way of doing something to give back to help other sufferers of the disease.
