Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
This January, I’m taking part in the R.E.D. (Run Every Day) Challenge for Mind - the mental health charity. I suffered from depression and anxiety after the birth of my second child and although I knew for some time that something was wrong, it was a long while before I sought help. I felt I “should” have been able to cope and by admitting how bad I had been feeling, I felt like I had failed. When I finally did see my GP, she was really helpful and sympathetic and with the support of my family and friends I received treatment and I am now in a much better place.
I now know that it is ok not to be ok. I also have a new regard for how important it is to look after our mental health as much as our physical health. I have found exercise (and running in particular) hugely beneficial in my recovery and in keeping myself well. I hope not only to raise valuable funds in participating in this challenge but also to get more people talking about mental health, so people who find themselves in my position feel more able to seek help and to know that they aren’t alone
