Story
After completing the London Marathon last year, I decided to do it again in Boston (Lincs, not USA!), along with Lincoln 10K, Great North 1/2 marathon and Tough Mudder 1/2 marathon. This year my son Nathanael is taking part with me by running the Lincoln Junior 2.5K and we're both doing the Ancaster Rough Obstacle 5K!
WHY?! Well, I’ve trained to be a First Responder through LIVES and I’m hoping that you will feel compelled to help me save lives by donating.
This is the only totally voluntary First Responder team in the country - when you ring 999,a trained LIVES volunteer from your community will be first on the scene.
Those essential first few minutes can make a life or death difference to chest pains, cardiac arrest, breathing difficulty and strokes. Volunteers give up their time and raise the money to pay for their training and kit - defibrillator, pulse oximeter, oxygen, mask etc. When we use it, we have to replace it....(a full kit bag costs up to £2,000)
We are simply giving up our time to maybe, one day, help save a life of someone in our community. So you see, your donation really could help save someone’s life. See below to get an idea of how your donation will help:
£4,000 – Train and equip a local group of 1st Responder volunteers
£2,000 – 1st Responder Kit Bag + equipment
£1,000 – Defibrillator
£250 – Pulse Oximeter (measures pulse rate & oxygen saturation level)
£250 – Extra Training & equipment for advanced 1st Responder
£165 – Train a single 1st Responder volunteer
£160 – Replacement Kit bag (not including equipment)
£40 – Oxygen cylinder Bag
£10 – CPR Pocket mask
