Story
I volunteer with Dorchester Paws, and I became a board member in 2020 after seeing how great the need for fundraising for this non-profit indeed was. This shelter has to beg its community for over 83% of its annual operating budget. This budget doesn't include emergency medical cases that are brought into the shelter.
Did you know the shelter is open admission? Meaning they must accept every single animal that is brought to them? Regardless of how much money it will cost to heal an animal? This shelter has operated as a no-kill facility since 2017, which is no easy feat.
Our shelter staff is tired, suffering from compassion fatigue. Still, the team gets up every day to go to a building in awful condition to ensure the animals housed at the shelter are loved, medically treated, exercised, and fed.
My target is $1000.00, so I would greatly appreciate any donation you can spare. Please share it with everyone you know who loves animals and is a cause-engaged person/audience.
Please list my name in your donation as "Carla Wood" so that I get credit for your contribution. Our board members are having a little competition to see who can raise the most for the shelter during this campaign—thanking you in advance.
