Story
The shelter's staff have sent out Morse Code and waved their rescue flags, hoping we will answer their call. It's time again for us on Giving Tuesday to help save our animal shelter and give Dorchester County homeless dogs and cats a fighting chance. If you have been inside Dorchester Paws, the only shelter in the County, you've seen what they are up against with the aging facility. Already this past year, the 48-year-old building has had to close three times because of flooding. Closing means turning away animals in need while the Dorchester Paws staff work in emergency mode. When the forecast calls for heavy rain, dogs and cats are shuffled to a nearby middle school gym or taken to other shelters across the Lowcountry. Imagine the stress this puts on these homeless animals. With the financial burden that Covid-19 has caused and finding buildable land, they need our help!
Update: Land has now been found with a closing date in sight! Plans are moving ahead!
