I am attempting to complete the Great North Run to raise money for the Cheshire Asbests Victims Support Group. They help victims suffering from asbestos related diseases such as Asbestosis, Mesothelioma, and Lung Cancer as a result of exposure to asbestos, and do whatever they can to improve their quality of life. The group is currently run by volunteers, most of whom are victims themselves.

In 1999 the use and import of asbestos was banned in the UK, however, it can take between 10-50 years after exposure for the diseases to develop. It is predicted that the number of reported cases will steadily increase to reach a peak in 2020.
