We are the MS Society. We are strong enough to stop MS together.

Story

The MS Society has helped so many people and to give something
back to the charity I have begun fundraising! They are currently exploring new ways to beat MS for good and offer support to those suffering with the illness. There is currently no cure, however some drugs are out there to improve patients’ quality of life through slowing down the onset of MS. A drug called Tysabri is often used for MS suffers for whom other drugs have become ineffective, but for the unlucky few this will have a tragic side effect in the form of Progressive Multifocal Leukoencephalopathy (PML). Those people who do
survive PML can be left severely brain damaged.

Last year my aunt, who was diagnosed with MS at 21, also
found she was one of the few to have PML. It has been incredibly difficult for her and our family and I don’t want anyone else to go through what she is. By donating you can help the MS Society find new treatments and hopefully one day a cure.

To raise money and awareness of this amazing charity and awful illness I am shaving my head! I hope to raise £1000 for the society. Goodbye hair!!

Your donations can help in so many ways, for example:

 - A donation of £5 would
provide essential information to three people diagnosed with MS.

- A donation of £10 would help provide vital
information leaflets about MS and could fund a much needed call to the MS Society helpline.

- A donation of £20 would help fund the cost of someone receiving 24-hour nursing care at the respite care centre.

- A donation of £25 could fund 100 copies of the 'What is MS?' booklet.

- A donation of £30 would help towards the running costs of the MS freephone helpline.

- A donation of £50 would contribute to the individual support grant programme that provides mobility aids, adaptations and equipment and could pay for a days training for a volunteer helpline officer, who make sure people affected by MS have someone to talk to.

A donation of £54 funds
an hour of research into finding better treatments and, ultimately, a cure for MS

Your support means so much to me and the charity. Im so so so thankful to everyone who has donated! THANKYOU ALL
