As most of you will probably know on the 16th March 2008 my brother Christian took his own life. He was just 21 years old.

 

Whilst those close to him never suspected any thing was wrong its clear that he had at some point in the days/weeks leading up to his death suffered from some form of mental illness.

 

Mind works for better mental health for everyone.

 

It is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales.

 

£6.90 is the cost of answering one enquiry to the Mindinfoline from someone in need of support.

 

£15 helps to support a local Mind association befriending scheme.

 

£30 helps to train a volunteer to become a Mind campaigner, helping promote awareness of mental health issues.

 

£100 enables support for 1000 people by producing information booklets such as 'understanding depression'.

 

It is my intention to run the 13.1 miles from Gateshead/Newcastle in memory of Christian and in attempt to raise money and awareness of this charity.

 

No matter whether young or old, male or female, 1 in 4 people will experience mental distress in their life time and your sponsorship no matter how small will help to make a real difference.
