Almost everyone's lives have been, or will be touched by Cancer in it's many forms, but we are making progress into prevention, early diagnosis and better treatment so that we live well with cancer rather than just dying of it. Charities like Cancer Research Wales need the continued support of public donations, so that they can sustain their incredible research and development programmes.

So in this my 50th year, I have decided to mark it by giving something back and am trekking to Machu Picchu in support of Cancer Research Wales. I have set myself a personal fundraising target of £4000, which I would like to think that with the help of my sponsors, I will at least achieve.

The money raised goes to clinical and laboratory based cancer research in universities and hospitals across Wales. This is where the breakthroughs are taking place and gaining momentum with every passing week. It is where our scientists are finding answers to the questions that are being asked by cancer researchers all over the world. They are looking at why and how cancer cells grow, invade and spread, whilst some resist treatment.

We are coming to get you cancer and we will win, so that future generations can live without the fear of this awful disease and it's effects on the lives of individuals and families alike. To do this, we need to continue to build on the work of charities like Cancer Research Wales and I hope that you will help me in fundraising for this amazing cause.
