Story
I’m walking 13.3 miles from 1 Angel Square to Rochdale
Pioneers Museum to tackle loneliness with the Co-op and the British Red Cross.
Loneliness is indiscriminate - it
affects people of all ages and backgrounds and can be found in all types of
communities. It can lead to a sense of despair, and emotional and mental health
problems such as depression and anxiety. In fact, it’s reported to be twice as
bad for our health as obesity.
Each year, the British Red Cross
supports over one million people in the UK. The charity is present in all UK
communities, providing unquestioning care and support to people of all ages and
backgrounds.
Together the Co-operative and British
Red Cross will deliver radical and lasting change to support those experiencing
loneliness across the UK. Together, we will provide vital support to the lonely
and isolated, reconnecting them to their communities and providing life
changing care in their homes.
