Story
In October 2021 our wonderful Mum, Valerie Turner, ran the London Marathon, at the age of 64, for Cancer Research Uk. She showed huge determination to do the amount of training required and to run the distance. We were so proud of her achievement.
Less than a year later, Mum was diagnosed with advanced Lung Cancer with multiple secondaries. This came as a huge shock to us all.
She faced her illness with fortitude and pragmatism but very sadly ,passed away, less than 3 months after her diagnosis, on 25th November 2022.
Mum lost her sister, our lovely Auntie Christine, to the same illness back in 2018.
In April 2023, we (Carl and Jo) have (foolishly!?) committed to running the London Marathon in Mum’s memory. We are fundraising for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation, who were an invaluable source of support and information throughout Mum's illness. The charity does a huge amount of work, funding research into lung cancer treatments and campaigning for the introduction of targeted lung cancer screening.
We would be very grateful if you could support us and this fantastic charity, in memory of our very much loved and missed Mum. Xx
