The County Air Ambulance Trust offers financial support to Air Ambulances. Its HELP Appeal programme raises funds to construct or update helipads at NHS Major Trauma Centres, key hospitals and air ambulance bases across the country saving time and saving lives. For further info; helpappeal.org.uk.

Story

On June 30th 2001 I was involved in an accident on the M1 that left me with my neck broken in 4 places when the car that I was travelling in as a passenger in flipped out of control.

The motorway was closed and the Air Ambulance was called. Within minutes, the Air Ambulance came to the rescue, I received life saving treatment and was taken to spinal unit at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

It now has been 9 years since the accident and I have had a good recovery.

The approximate cost of running the Air Ambulance is £26 per minute, It is vitally important that a patent reaches the hospital that is suited towards their injuries within one 'golden hour'. The average cost of this is £1560.00 per flight. I would like to raise enough money to cover the cost of a flight so another person in trouble can benefit in the same way that I did.

Since the 1st of January I have started training for the London Triathlon 2010. I am currently training 7 times over 5 days every week and this is planned to be stepped up in duration in April (with open water swimming brrrrrrr)  when the full training program kicks in.

I will post pictures and details of my progress to keep you up to date with how it is going.
