Story
I am taking part in a Skydive for The Brain Tumour Charity this September.
As many of you know my wife Gem was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2013 and following this had awake brain surgery. It was a slow
recovery but Gem has been brilliant and so strong throughout. Unfortunately, we found out in April that Gem's tumour has grown again and she now needs another surgery to help her fight the little blighter. I am so proud of my wife and how she has handled some of the challenges this has thrown at her. It's never something that you can prepare for, but together we are determined to live positively and support one another with the help of our family and friends and of course, The Brain Tumour Charity.
I'm doing the Skydive to help Gem keep strong ahead of her next surgery and any donations would be greatly received as The Brain Tumour Charity have been instrumental in helping Gem and other families and patients throughout what is a challenging time. Thanks to organisations like The Brain Tumour Charity it means that nobody has to face brain tumours alone.
Some information from the Brain Tumour Charity's current publication 'A Cure Can't Wait- Our Research Strategy for 2015-2020':
"Every day, 25 people and their families in the UK are devastated by the words ‘you have a brain tumour’ and almost 5,000 people lose their lives every year. Brain tumours are the biggest cancer killer of the under 40s. Despite this, unlike other cancers, survival rates for adults have improved little in over 40 years and still reduce life expectancy by an average of 20 years, the highest of any cancer. Whilst survival has improved for children, over 62% of children are left with a life-altering, long-term disability, which has a life-long, profound effect on them and their families".
Your money will help make a difference to the lives of people living with brain tumours and help fund the vital research which can improve lives and help us reach a cure faster.
