Story
Most of you know I’ve not been a fan of running unless playing sport. But two years ago during lockdown, I decided to try the couch to 5k app.
Having now run close to 50 Parkruns, several 10k’s, 10 mile races and a couple of half marathons, I thought I needed to really test myself…
Fast forward to this summer and I thought it was a good idea to enter the Yorkshire Marathon.
I know it’s only a few days to go but I’ve been asked to run for charity. Please see the information below. Any donations large or small would be very much appreciated.
Thanks to everyone who has supported me with this. In particular everyone at York Sport for helping organise this for me.
Special thanks to my running coach Emma Tune (Tuney). Cheers for the words of wisdom, training plans and running banter. See you at the finish!
I’ve decided to support this great young charity who I’ve got to know through enjoying their amazing hot chocolates at the sports centre, so I thought I needed to support the great work they are doing in York offering employment opportunities to those often marginalised in our community due to struggling with an addiction or having a criminal record.
Chocolate & Co is a not-for-profit charity enterprise supporting vulnerable people in the community through chocolate for eating and drinking.Part of Our Father's Heart, Chocolate & Co was formed when the founders, Linda and Mariah Barrie lost two friends to addiction. Keen to prevent this from happening to other people, Linda and Mariah bought together their skillsets in chocolate making and mental wellbeing to create Chocolate & Co.Chocolate & Co offers a range of beautiful hot chocolate that also created training and employment opportunities for those struggling to recover from addiction and the cycle of offending.Having someone believe in you can be transformational. It can build confidence and return self-worth. That why when you drink our hot chocolate, youre also offering a second chance at a rewarding life to those who need it the most.To find out more about Chocolate & Co, visit www.chocolateandco.org
