Story
Kims mum Nancy , passed away earlier this year after that long, cruel illnesses that are dementia and Alzheimer's
Without the help and support Age Concern Hampshire gave Kim in dealing with Nancy , many times Kim would have crumbled
The staff at Alton (now at Odiham) have been truly amazing, they knew what Kim was going through and helped as much as they could with Nancy . I thank them wholeheartedly and will remember there efforts and support they gave Kim and Nancy whilst I run the Great South Run on 17th October, which I was hoping to do 2 years ago before the pandemic
Even over the course of the pandemic ,when they weren’t allowed to operate the service , they went out visiting their regular clients. They delivered food parcels and checked on the elderly and vulnerable A visit like that would make their day I have no doubt, so thank you
Please can you all give to this wonderful cause - they are one of the unsung heroes in the care system and they’re service should be recognised and supported as much as possible
Hear below is a bit more about Age Concern Hampshire and the work they do. But above is our story, and how it effected us and my wonderful wife, Kim, in particular. They made a real difference - so once again, thank you
Age Concern Hampshire are passionate about supporting older people throughout Hampshire and they need us now more than ever. With the Coronavirus outbreak labelled as a pandemic by the World Health Organisation we recognise that older people are one of the groups most at risk. Many are being advised to self-isolate and some of our Day / Social Care provisions will be temporarily reduced to protect the health and safety of clients. These precautions will cause involuntary social isolation. Our services operate to prevent social isolation and loneliness while ensuring the health and well-being of elderly people. We are calling on supporters to donate towards our emergency campaign to help us provide provisions such as well-being check-ins (via telephone consultations) to alleviate the impact of COVID19. Donations will go towards whatever is needed such as coordinating regular telephone check-ins as well as home visits, shopping trips and general domestic support if required.
