As a baby, Coach Carl Thompson was born with a left club foot. At the time the best way to solve this was to have foot correcting surgery. Carl had the surgery which now as a fully grown adult has left him with a significantly thinner left leg, a size 6 left foot, a size 12 right foot and also unable to place his heel of his left foot on the floor. It was painful growing up after doing sport but never stopped him doing anything. Now Carl is currently playing basketball for the Cardinal Vipers and coaching future basketballers at his beloved youth basketball club Cardinal Hornets. The pain a lot less for Carl now as an adult, but this is why Steps is so close to Carl's heart. Our aim is to raise awareness of this as well as having some fun and raising funds in the process. A little note from Carl

I love playing basketball and I want to influence adults as well as young people, I am living proof that nothing can stop us doing what we enjoy. It was painful in the younger years but overall worth it as it got me to  where I am now. I didn't let this condition define me. Alot of people probably don't know I suffer this but that's just how I am. Pride myself on not being treat any different and will not treat anyone else differently.
