Story
We are supporting City Hospice because they are a fantastic local Cardiff based charity. City Hospice care for people with life limiting and terminal illnesses such as cancer. We have chosen to take part in this challenge as a team as It’s been really tricky working from home since last March and this a perfect opportunity to boost team morale, keep active and support Cardiff’s local hospice.
We all had our own plans to keep fit during January and by taking part in the 100 Heroes Challenge we could do this as a team and support Cardiff’s local hospice. There are 6 of us all together in our team and we are completing 346 miles from 13th January 2021 to 3rd February 2021. We have picked this challenge because there are 346,000 (at the last count) people living in Cardiff.
We will be running/walking the miles. As we are in lockdown and the weather is colder, it can be quite hard to motivate yourself so this is the perfect motivation we need to brave the elements. It might be challenging at times, especially in the weather but it won’t come close to what City Hospice Clinical team have faced over the past 10 months. They have continued to care for people and their families in their own homes throughout this pandemic. We wanted to highlight this charity as they are only at home palliative care provider in Cardiff, and we know how important it is for people to have this option when facing a life limiting or terminal illness.
We would definitely encourage other teams to get involved, it’s a great team builder, a perfect way to boost team morale and vitally, raise important funds for such a special charity.
