Story

Howdy!

I see your visiting my fundraising page! Well if i've got you this far, i'm hoping you'll be willing to part with some cash as well! Why?

Well, I've signed up to run the Bupa Great North Run on 20th September which is 13.1 miles. Yes i know it's only a halfa and not the full 26.2, but I’m building my way up to it. Let’s try and get to the finish line of this one first!

My ambition to do the Great North Run is being driven by sadistic impulses driving me to run up and down hills for hours and hours (yes it will take me that long), with 35,000 other eejits (mostly likely in the rain), as well as the opportunity to raise money for a simply fantastic charity, the Stroke Association! Almost everyone’s lives will have been impacted by stroke at some stage, whether it’s the individual, a family member, a friend or neighbour.   Here are some facts about Strokes:

·         Every year an estimated 150,000 people in the UK have a stroke

·         Of them about a third are likely to die within the first 10 days

·         About a third are likely to be left disabled and needing rehabilitation

A quarter of a million people are living with long-term disability as a result of a stroke in the UK

The Stroke Association is dedicated to funding research to prevent Strokes as well as providing support and rehabilitation to sufferers and their loved ones

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Stroke Association gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

I know we're in a recession so anything you can spare even if its 50p is greatly appreciated. Or why not just have one pint less after work on Friday night and give the Stroke association the £3 instead!

Ta very muchly

Cara (Cars, Caz, OB, O'Brien and No Chin)

Dunno which one to write on my running shirt yet?!

xx
