As most of you are aware my Dad was diagnosed with Alzheimers around 5 years ago. It was a hard and stressful time for the whole family as we knew how much this disease could change a person (my gran and grandad are full time carers for my great gran who is 100 years old and has suffered from the disease for over 10 years), it just gradually takes the person you know and love away from you and even the simplist of tasks become hard work for them. For example, on a bad day my dad cant locate the tap to get water or cant find which room is his bedroom.
Since watching my dad change and shown me first hand of what this disease could do I wanted to do something to raise money for this cause because it is so close to home and because recent statistics found that 1 in 4 of the population will suffer or are suffering from it.
In July, i took part in a 100 mile bike ride (in one night), from London to Brighton to raise money for Alzheimers Society and between me and two other ladies we raised around £1000. Next month I will be taking part in the Bupa Great South Run - 10 miles to raise more money for Alzheimers and I am doing this one alone. I have always struggled when it comes to running long distances so wanted to push myself with this 10 mile run so please make it worth my while.
This is all to raise money for such a good cause so i would really appreciate it if all family and friends and even friends of friends would take time to donate to help me raise as much as possible. Even if it is oly a few pound, every little counts and will make my pain and hard work worth while.
Thank You all for taking the time to read this and hopefully your donation too :)
