The Absa Cape Epic is an annual mountain bike stage race held in the Western Cape, South Africa, over 8 days. It has been described as the Tour de France of Mountain Biking.

In teams of two, riders have to pass all check points together. The concept of ‘looking after each other’ still runs deep in the ethos and technique of stage racing.

We've been riding bikes together for 20 years and with MTB stage racing and cycling endurance medals earned together already, this is a race that has been on our mountain biking bucket list for a while.

The race will probably be our toughest challenge on two wheels to date and we're a bit scared!

Preparation has been tough so far and it's going to take a strict 10 weeks to get ourselves ready.
