Story
Hello and thanks for visiting our Capco Ben Nevis page
We are a group of Capco colleagues who have formed a work-based hiking group with the main objective to set ourselves a challenge and fundraise for what we believe is a great cause, namely SAMH.
Given that engaging in healthy activity, as a group in the outdoors, is an excellent way of promoting everyone’s physical and mental health we felt that hiking was a great way to support this great cause – so we decided to set the bar as high as it could possibly go in the UK and climb Ben Nevis, our highest mountain!
This is especially challenging as the majority of us are not experienced hill climbers or “Munro baggers”.
For those unaware of SAMH, there is some great information on the SAMH Website
The route being followed is the Mountain Track. The details of the Mountain Track are:
- Total Distance: 17km or 10.5miles
- Total Ascent: 1352m or 4436ft
- Typical Time Taken: 7 to 9 hrs
A stage-by-stage breakdown of the walk can be found here: Ben Nevis Route
Best described as Capco and friends/family.
We have several Capco colleagues undertaking this challenge in support of SAMH, including Shamael Chaudhry, Stuart Lothian, Christopher Shields, Alexander McCollom, Mhairi McCall, Cameron Wyse, Stephen Scullion, Hashim Mohammed, Matthew Watts, Emil Dimitrov, Thomas Wyllie and Angus Brown along with a handful of our family and friends.
As you may be able to guess from some of the photos that will follow in the updates, most of us are not seasoned mountaineers and are currently about to embark on a series of Training Munros to try and prepare
After each Training Munro, we will be posting updates on how our training is going plus photos from the mountains we climbed, so please check back for those updates and to see how we’re getting on.
While we will be supporting each other on the mountain, we hope that with your help, we can also be supporting this great cause!
Thanks for all your support
