Story
On 4th November, nearly 2 years after my mum’s breast cancer diagnosis, I am going to abseil down Belfast Castle for Cancer Focus; an amazing charity that raises cancer awareness, researches into causes and treatments, and supports patients and families affected by cancer.
Sadly, Covid-19 has had a devastating impact on charities like Cancer Focus NI as it has paused most of their services for people affected by cancer, and many of their fundraising events have been postponed. As 90% of their income comes from fundraising alone, their funds are at a seriously low level, and eventually they will not be able to continue their life-changing work.
Thankfully, my mum’s cancer was treatable, and she is now cancer free. However, many others are not as fortunate. Because of charities like Cancer Focus, cancer can be caught earlier, making it much more treatable, and the lives of families like mine and others are made that little bit easier during those tough times.
Any donation will mean that you will be helping to save Cancer Focus NI so they can continue to deliver vital services to cancer patients and their families across Northern Ireland. I know that these are difficult times financially and so I know many may not be able to donate, but no donation is too small, so if you can spare any money at all, your donation would be greatly appreciated!
