Varsity started 21 years ago as a commemorative rugby fixture after a student death. Since then, Varsity has grown to include over 45 fixtures across 30 student groups, with its core vision and mission being pride, passion, friendship and celebration. 

Varsity is closely related to supporting students' mental health, and promoting the impact that sport can have on someone during their time at University. We are therefore delighted to announce that we have selected  Student Minds to be the official charity of Varsity, as both Kent and Christchurch SUs' have previously benefited from the work that this charity does, including providing training for student leaders so that they can look after themselves and their mates. We hope the money raised will continue to fund these positives initiatives and create further impact around de-stigmatising student mental health.
