Fleeing domestic abuse is a traumatic experience and sadly, one which we have seen more of in the wake of the pandemic. In some cases, families flee to seek safety and sanctuary with only the clothes on their back. Imagine finishing your school day as you walk to meet your Mum at the school gate, not yet knowing that this will be a day you won't forget. You get onto the bus and she explains we're not going home; we're going on an adventure!'. While Mum remains resilient and strong with a focus to start again, these little ones have to be brave, leave behind their school, friends, worldly possessions and even their favourite toy.
