We are the support-led fundraising team for the East Midlands with Cancer Research UK. We live, breathe, think and dream about fundraising and about how the amazing people in our region's do such an amazing job to support the work of research into cancer.

The region covers the Peterborough area, Lincolnshire, South Yorkshire, East Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire and Rutland. Our team consists of Amanda, the two lovely Chloe's, Carole, Debbie, Rebecca our team leader, Myles.

Every year in our region, members of the public and our fundraising groups work hard in raising life-saving funds totalling more than £2,000,000! Thank you!

With the statistics than more than 800 people recieve a cancer diagnosis every day in the UK and sadly only half will survive, you can see why our fundraising is so important. We are in the business of saving lives and as we receive no money from the government, every donation is vital!

Survival rates in the UK have double in the last 40 years and our work as been at the heart of that progress and our scientists and doctors have contributed to 19 of the top 20 cancer drugs that are used worldwide.

 

In the late 1960’s around a quarter of children with cancer survived. Today, almost three quarters survive and our work has been the key to this success.

 

And finally our groundbreaking research led to a dramatic increase in numbers of people whose cancer could be cured by radiotherapy.

 

These are great statistics to share but there is still much more to be done and to achieve our ambitions and goals we need to rely on the continued support of the general public and amazing supporters such as yourselves.
