Story
3 years ago Carlie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer. She underwent 21 rounds of chemotherapy (that’s over a year!) and 3 weeks of radiotherapy, then a mastectomy…she felt that she'd beaten it.
After a few months of persistent headaches at the start of 2021, Carlie visited the GP...various tests and investigations revealed a large tumour in her brain - secondary breast cancer. Fast forward 3 months and she'd had brain surgery to remove it and was recovering well. Things were looking up again and Carlie was enjoying life with family and friends.
A targeted round of radiotherapy is now under her belt, and Carlie is back on track to maintaining a 'normal' life. With follow up scans to come, Carlie and Jasmine decided to revisit the ‘getting focused’ idea and signed up for the Oxford Half Marathon in October 2022 (whilst drinking wine late one evening of course!) and from there the idea completely snowballed.
