Story
During lockdown, Joshua Shea and his mum, singer/songwriter Liz took daily bike rides together around the beautiful island of Jersey and were inspired by all the rainbow pictures in windows to write "Can You See The Rainbow?" Friend, collaborator and playwright Karen Forbes-Ewing helped them shape the lyrics.
Since then they have recruited many others to record and release this song as a charity single. Joshua Shea, songwriter and up and coming actor (young Newt in Fantastic Beasts the crimes of Grindelwald) sings the lead vocal along with up and coming pop vocalist Lydia Singer. Both young people have just graduated from Tring Park school for the performing arts and have been members of the schools chamber choir Tring Park 16, BBC Songs of Praise Young Choir of the Year.
International conductor and choir master David Lawrence has arranged the song for SATB choir for this recording and up and coming young producer, Olly Scott, a recent graduate of Chetham's school of music has produced the song. Dominic Ferris, West End music producer/arranger at Sony/UMG and ambassador for Steinway and Sons has been executive producer.
The three writers have chosen three causes that they are particularly passionate about. Liz has chosen local Jersey charity Kairos Arts who
she volunteers with to create therapeutic arts workshops that support people affected by domestic abuse, trafficking, dementia, and vulnerable mental health. Joshua has chosen the NHS Charities Together supporting our care workers, and Karen has chosen the Norfolk Community Foundation which works to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues to ensure that vulnerable people can access the quality support they need especially this difficult and challenging time.
David Lawrence has also arranged the song in three parts for children’s choirs so that it is available for a small donation for schools to sing this September.
