Story
We are helping raise money for Tearfund’s life saving work around the world, helping people to lift themselves out of poverty
For some going without isn’t just a choice for Lent. For Abeer and her children giving things up wasn’t a choice. Conflict forced them to flee their home in fear. Now Abeer and her small children live in a temporary camp in Iraq where it’s hard to get the basic essentials they need to survive.
Sadly, Abeer’s story is not unique. Tens of millions of people around the world have lost their homes, livelihoods and hope in similar ways to Abeer.
Thanks to generous donations, Abeer was able to get some new winter clothes for her children (who were outgrowing theirs). This has made a huge difference.
Inspired by Abeer’s story and as part of a leadership programme run by Tearfund we are going to give up our beds for a minimum of 1 night during the 6th - 13th March to raise awareness for the millions of people who have had to flee their homes due to conflict.
This Lent, will you help us relieve suffering and poverty where it’s most needed?
You can help start to restore a sense of home for people who have lost everything. Providing even the most basic items – such as soap to keep hands clean in a pandemic – can bring a sense of safety and a reminder that they are not forgotten.
Until 30 April, your donation will be doubled, thanks to an incredibly generous group of supporters (up to a total of £1 million!) so your donation will help even more people!!
We would love it if you would join with us in supporting Tearfund’s work by donating to this page
Thank you 😊
