Story
Our fourth annual fundraising walk for the Teenage Cancer Trust will take place on Saturday, 3rd May. We will start from Tower Hill station, walking east along the Thames to Limehouse basin where we will follow the canal northward through Mile End and into Victoria Park. Here we pick up last year’s route along the canal through Islington and Camden Lock and on to Little Venice, then into Kensington Gardens, Hyde Park, Green Park to Buckingham Palace. Then through St James Park to the Houses of Parliament and over Westminster Bridge to the Thames Path on the South Bank. We follow the river along to Tower Bridge where we cross and finish at The Dickens Inn, St Katherine Docks.
Our walk started three years ago following the death of Jack Chester a former pupil of Campion School.
Jack joined the sixth form in 2007. He quickly became fully involved in the school but 6 months later, he was diagnosed with cancer. Jack always wanted to help others. His work for the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) was outstanding. Everywhere Jack went, he made an impression. Football managers and players and rock stars all succumbed to the charm and wit of this incredible young man. Jack died in September 2010.In Jack's memory, we have organised our walks and raised over £60,000 in three years.
