Story
Hello all!
Coming off finishing my half marathon, I thought it would be a great transition to my next challenge...
I will be running 100 miles in October to help the American Cancer Society, in honor of Nelson Boyd, fight for a world without cancer.
This is a very meaningful cause to me.
In 2005 my father was diagnosed with a rare cancer and given less than a year to live. He was referred to the Sarah Cannon Cancer Center in Nashville, where the physician who specialized in his diagnosis practiced. My parents were referred to what my pops called "The Cancer Lodge" (He was always a jokester), where they were able to stay without charge for 2 months thanks to the American Cancer Society. Without this amazing help, they would have not been able to stay in Nashville for this life saving treatment.
We are forever grateful to the American Cancer Foundation for providing this help and giving us 6 more years of life with him.
I have always wanted to give back to this foundation for the help they gave our family, and now is my chance.
I don't know one person who has not been affected by this awful illness. The countless stories break my heart on a daily basis. This is one way that I feel like I can do something...
This challenge will run October 1 -October 31, ending just in time for Nelson Boyd's birthday on November 1. It will be the greatest gift.
I will be doing this challenge with my husband and his own 100 mile challenge, and my kiddos whenever they can tag along!
