Story
At the end of October, I will be riding in the Countryside Alliance Charity Race at Aintree. The race is a mile and a half on the flat and there will be 10 of us training up to give it a go. The race is part of the Countryside Day and aims to raise valuable funds for The Countryside Alliance Foundation. This charity “aims to help adults and children alike make the most of the incredible remedial and educational benefits of being involved in the delights of rural Britain.” This includes their ‘Fishing for Schools’ programme and their ‘Casting for Recovery’ program which helps women who have or have had breast cancer.
Steering this (pretty clueless!) attempted jockey in the right direction is the brilliant team at Jedd O'Keeffe Racing. A huge thank you goes to them for all their time, help and advice. As well as riding out as many mornings a week as I can, I will be training on the simulator, running and generally getting as fit as possible.
A big thank you also foea Lycetts Financial Services, who are very kindly sponsoring my kit for the day. Lycetts are and always have been a fantastic supporter of all that is countryside and I am extremely proud to be bearing them on my bottom!!!
I am absolutely chuffed to be involved with both the race and the cause, and am already getting stuck into the training.
Bring it on, the stirrups are up !!!
