Story
So I'm running the Brighton Marathon! It's been a baptism of fire training for such a long distance, but it's been worth it as it's for such a brilliant cause.
Today, 400 people in the UK will attempt suicide - that's one every four minutes. Of those, 18 will die.
Grassroots Suicide Prevention are working to change that. Their approach is multifaceted and includes their award-winning Stay Alive app, their expert-run suicide prevention courses, and their regional and national campaigns to raise awareness and reduce stigma.
My own mental health has proved challenging over the years and so it means a lot to me to do something positive that can benefit others. I know we're all cash-strapped at the minute so if you can't donate yourself, please share this post.
Cheers xx
From Grassroots:
Team Grassroots are lifesavers. When someone has thoughts of suicide, connecting with others can make all the difference. But reaching out can feel impossible. Too many people go through this pain alone and without support. In fact, 72% of people who die by suicide are not in contact with a health service about suicide in the year before their death. That's why preventing suicide means working together. Together, we can fight dangerous stigma that stops people talking about suicide. Together, we can learn to recognise and support those at risk, and connect them with a network of lifesaving services. Together, we can prevent suicide.Team Grassroots make this possible. Every step along their journey, every penny they raise, helps us prevent suicide together through our lifesaving services.
